In order to investigate the influence of active illumination on infrared object detection, infrared radiation characteristic for an active-illuminated vehicle is analyzed in this paper. The calculation models for infrared radiation are established, based on the physical model of active-illuminated vehicle and combined with the effect of natural environment. Vehicle surface infrared radiation is simulated and measured practically, using Kr illuminator as the active light source. Experimental results have shown that simulation values agree with practical measurement one effectively; and that surface infrared radiation can be altered by the active illuminator and alteration extent lies on illumination distance, power, time, and incident angle.
