Multiscale modeling of the macroscopic size-dependent effects of interfacial transition zones in concrete and their damage

In this work, a micromechanics approach is proposed for correlating the dependence of the macroscopic (or effective) stiffness and strength properties of concrete on the sizes of aggregate particles with the existence and damage of interfacial transition zones. Next, this approach is applied to concrete consisting of a paste with spherical isotropic aggregates.
