چکیده انگلیسی
The present study indicates that improper high light intensity markedly reduces the growth of juvenile starry flounder in land-based recirculating aquaculture systems without causing significant stress responses in terms of plasma cortisol concentrations. Yet, the increased plasma glucose level found under low light intensities could not be related to the observed cortisol levels. Considering growth performance, economic constraints and pertinent animal welfare, adjustment of light conditions to maintain appropriate intensities below 500 lx is recommended for this species in artificial rearing units.
