Role of toll-like receptor-commensal interactions in intestinal inflammation

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play a critical role in host defense of infection. Recent studies demonstrate that in addition to their function in the immune system, TLRs have an important physiological role in the maintenance of the intestinal homeostasis.
