Aplatissement septal et dyskinésie septale

Because of its position between the two ventricles, studying the interventricular septum has physiological and clinical interest also. The position of the septum is directly dependent on transseptal pressure gradient. In certain pathological conditions, as in diastolic or systolic right ventricular overload, septal dyskinesia may be observed. There are also physiological conditions where the septum is moved toward the left ventricle, as observed during inspiration in spontaneous ventilation because of a significant increase in systemic venous return.
