The psychometric properties of the PES in a bureaucratic practice model in San Cecilio Hospital were inadequate for validation. Nevertheless, these properties were close to those found in a professional practice model in the American study. Staffing and resource adequacy and collegial nurse-physician relations seem to have a stable significance for any nursing environment and practice mode.
