Dupuytren's disease - A review

Dupuytren's disease is a specific form of fibromatosis that affects the palm of the hand and the fingers. The condition has been recognised for centuries but our understanding of its aetiology is still evolving and decisions regarding surgical treatment must be tailored to the individual patient. We reviewed the recent literature on Dupuytren's disease and discussed current treatment options with the consultant surgeons currently working in the Birmingham Hand Service. We have also attempted to emphasise several classic papers in this field.
