Quelle place pour les prémélanges industriels en nutrition parentérale de l'adulte à l'hôpital ? Analyse des données de la littérature

Parenteral nutrition may be administered in the form of individual bottles, tailor-made formulations or standard mixtures. Premixed industrial nutrients are being used more and more often. The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of these premixed industrial nutrients in comparison with separated bottles through an analysis of the literature on clinical, organizational and economic aspects and practices. There is no evidence that the use of these premixed industrial nutrients reduces the risk of infection, nor are they easily adapted to the nutritional needs of the patients. They are more costly than separated bottles and there is no evidence that practices have been improved following the commercialization of these premixes. Only a reduction in the work time of nursing staff has been demonstrated. Except for the saving in work time of the nursing staff, the currently available data do not demonstrate any advantage of premixed industrial nutrients in comparison with separated bottles.
