Cadaveric assessment of the gastrocnemius aponeurosis to assist in the pre-operative planning for two-portal endoscopic gastrocnemius recession (EGR)

These data provide useful parameters for the accurate placement of EGR instrumentation. On average, a surgeon should measure 16-17 cm proximally from the calcaneal insertion of the Achilles tendon in order to place the EGR instrumentation within the “endoscopic zone”.
