These results show that the prevalence of the metabolic syndrome in a population of patients with overweight or obesity is higher than in general population. These findings could have relevant implications when trying to make a precocious diagnosis of the vascular diseases and diabetes mellitus in these patients, in order to treat early so as to reduce their metabolic and cardiovascular complications.
