L'ancrage intra-osseux en orthodontie à l'aide de mini- et de microvis

Mini- and microscrews are frequently used in orthodontics as a device for skeletal anchorage. In this article the results of a prospective study carried out in an orthodontic office will be presented. The success rate of different types of mini- or microscrews depended on the anatomic site where they were inserted. In the mandible, miniscrews of 2 mm diameter showed good results whereas, in the maxilla on the buccal side, thin microscrews of 1.3 mm diameter achieved the lowest failure rates. The palatal side of the maxilla showed the best results with mini- or microscrews of 1.6 or 2.0 mm diameter. In all the patients in this study skeletal anchorage with mini- or microscrews was an effective tool to achieve the treatment goals.
