Obstruction of the upper urinary tract

Ureteric obstruction results in changes in renal tubular pressure, blood flow and glomerular filtration rate, affecting the excretory and homeostatic functions of the kidney. This contribution discusses various features of ureteric obstruction (i.e. pathophysiology, investigations, presentation and management).
