Supraumbilical pyloromyotomy: a unique indication for antimicrobial prophylaxis

The risk of wound infection by classic pyloromyotomy of 2.3% is significantly increased with an open supraumbilical approach. The use of prophylactic antibiotics reduces this risk of wound infection.
