The Cartan ring of a finite group

We determine the structure of the Cartan ring of a finite group G, defined as the Grothendieck ring of G modulo its ideal generated by projective modules, and we identify the ideal of the Cartan ring arising from all relatively Q-projective modules for a p-subgroup Q of G.
