Lattice-ordered 2 × 2 triangular matrix algebras

We show that there are four different lattice orders on a 2 × 2 triangular matrix algebra over a totally ordered field to make it into a lattice-ordered algebra in which the identity matrix is positive. A general method is also given to construct lattice orders in which the identity matrix is not positive.
