Maximizing second hyperpolarizability of single carrier 2D quantum dots: Interplay of strengths of confining potential, magnetic field and anharmonicity

A linear variational recipe is used to compute the second non-linear optical response (γ) of single carrier 2D quantum dots and determine conditions required for obtaining high values of (γ). The effects of anharmonicities in the confinement potential are analyzed.
