Projects as search processes

This paper presents a theoretical perspective on information collection processes within projects. Part of the project management task is to search for more favorable solutions, while economizing on the costs of doing so. This involves deciding how long to search, and in what sequence. The economics of such search processes are explored, and the implications for project management are considered.
