Cherenkov detectors in Cherenkov's laboratory

The report consider some issues concerning the history of discovering Cherenkov radiation during “darkness” period (1931-1938) and P.A. Cherenkov's work during “light” period (1940-1990). Construction and start-up of first charged particles accelerators. His work in international collaboration.
