Interference between Coulomb and hadronic scattering in elastic high-energy nucleon collisions

The commonly used West and Yennie model applied to description of high energy elastic nucleon scattering will be critically examined and its deficiencies will be summarized. The preference of the more general approach based on eikonal model will be accented.
