Depletion of alveolar macrophages by clodronate-liposomes aggravates ischemia-reperfusion injury of the lung

Intratracheal administration of liposome-encapsulated clodronate does not benefit, but aggravates, warm ischemia-reperfusion injury of the lung, increasing MIP-2-associated alveolar neutrophil recruitment and airway mechanical dysfunction.
