Racismo y educación en México

ResumenEn este artículo se reconoce que la educación formal está poderosamente influida y delineada, desde sus bases, por fundamentos y orientaciones eugenésicos y de darwinismo social que la hacen altamente proclive a la producción y reproducción del racismo, de modo que –con o sin contenidos racistas explícitos o implícitos– la educación formal ofrece condiciones que le permiten a este verificarse, por el solo hecho de que se desarrolle el plan curricular correspondiente. Con todo, ni los organismos internacionales que tienen en sus agendas la encomienda de prevenir y de luchar en contra del racismo, ni las instituciones locales que se han establecido en el país con un fin similar parecieran notar este hecho, como tampoco lo hace la mayoría de las investigaciones que en México exploran el tema del racismo en la educación institucional.

This article acknowledges formal education is strongly influenced and outlined, from its bases, by eugenicist and social Darwinism foundations and orientations that make it highly prone to the production and reproduction of racism, in such a way that, with or without explicit or implicit racist contents, formal education offers conditions that allow racism to take place by the simple development of the corresponding educational curriculum. Yet, neither international organizations charged by their agendas with preventing and fighting racism, nor local institutions established in the country with similar aims, seem to take note of this fact, which is neither present in most of the Mexican research that explores racism within institutional education.
