آشنایی با موضوع

در پزشکی به بیماری‌هایی، بیماری مزمن گفته می‌شود که زیاد طول می‌کشند یا ذاتاً بلندمدت هستند مانند آسم یا دیابت. کلمه مزمن متضاد حاد است و کلمه حاد به معنای ناگهانی و غیر منتظره بودن است. اصطلاح مزمن اشاره به طولانی بودن دوره بیماری دارد و هیچ ربطی به درجه شدت و درمان پذیری بیماری ندارد. درد مزمن معمولاً بیان کننده دردی است که بیش از ۶ ماه از زمان آن گذشته و پایان آن قابل پیش بینی نبوده وبه جز اینکه به طور خیلی آهسته التیام یابد مانند سوختگی‌ها. دیگر خصوصیات درد مزمن آنست که هویت علت آن مشخص باشد، اغلب درد مزمن، فرد را بی خاصیت و بدون کارایی کرده وبرای فرد زندگی با چنین شرایطی مشکل است. بیماران تجارب مدامی نسبت به درد دارند یا به طور مداوم درد مزمن آنها عود کرده که اغلب بیماریشان به طور فزونی وقت‌شان را اشغال می‌کند. بیماری های مزمن و صعب العلاج مشتمل بر فهرستی از بیماری های واگیر دار و غیرواگیر، از مهم ترین علل مرگ و میر و ناتوانی در کشورهای پیشرفته و درحال توسعه از جمله ایران هستند. علاوه بر این در بسیاری از این کشورها این بیماری ها روند صعودی داشته و هزینه های بسیار سنگینی بر جامعه و نظام سلامت تحمیل می کنند. اصطلاح مزمن اشاره به طولانی بودن دوره بیماری دارد و هیچ ربطی به ناعلاج بودن یا نبودن درجه شدت و درمان پذیری بیماری ندارد.
