Porous carbon-coated Li2MoO4 as high-performance anode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Alkali metal molybdates have been demonstrated as promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries due to high specific capacity. In this study, Li2MoO4@C has been prepared by oxalic acid-assisted sol-gel method followed by carbon coating. Thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, scan electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope were employed to characterize its composition, structure and morphology. Electrochemical measurements show that the porous Li2MoO4@C composite displays excellent electrochemical performances. The initial lithiation and delithiation specific capacity was 983â¯mAhâ¯gâ1 and 653â¯mAhâ¯gâ1 at current density of 100â¯mAâ¯gâ1, respectively. The electrode delivers 504â¯mAhâ¯gâ1 delithiation capacities even though undergoing 150 cycles test.
