Ameliorative effect of 20-OH ecdysone on streptozotocin induced oxidative stress and β-cell damage in experimental hyperglycemic rats

► STZ-damaged the pancreatic β-cells by over production of ROS. ► Excessive production of ROS decreases the insulin secretion. ► Due to insufficiency of insulin and over production of ROS affecting vital organs. ► 20-OH ecdysone administration inhibits oxidative stress by hypoglycemic potential. ► The effect produced by 20-OH ecdysone was comparable to that of glibenclamide.
