Potential application of two thermostable lichenases from a newly isolated Bacillus licheniformis UEB CF: Purification and characterization

► Two thermostable and alkali-stable lichenases EG1 and EG2 from the newly isolated Bacillus licheniformis UEB CF were purified. ► They differed from each other in terms of molecular weight and some physicochemical characteristics. ► The N-terminal sequences of EG1 and EG2 showed no similarity to sequences of known microbial lichenases. ► Both enzymes showed excellent stability and compatibility with a range of commercial solid detergents. ► First report about application of lichenases in detergent as additive.
