Purification, primary structure and potential functions of a novel lectin from Bauhinia forficata seeds

► A new lectin, named BfL, was purified from Bauhinia forficata seeds. ► Its hemagglutinating activity is inhibited by glycoproteins. ► The primary structure of BfL was determined. ► BfL increases the coagulation time and inhibits the platelet aggregation. ► BfL is the only lectin from Bauhinia that shows these properties.
