Purification and characterization of a flavin reductase from the biodesulfurizing bacterium Mycobacterium goodii X7B

► Flavin reductase DszD was purified from biodesulfurizing Mycobacterium goodii X7B. ► The DszD encoding gene dszD was amplified and expressed in Escherichia coli. ► Purified DszD binds FMN as the cofactor and can use FMN or FAD as the substrate. ► DszD could effectively enhance the desulfurization reaction in recombinant E. coli.
