An organic solvent-tolerant lipase from Streptomyces sp. CS133 for enzymatic transesterification of vegetable oils in organic media

► 16s rDNA sequence of Streptomyces CS133 showed 99.8% homology to Streptomyces xanthocidicus. ► Organic solvent tolerant lipase (39.8 kDa) was purified (specific activity 712.6 U/mg). ► N-terminal sequence showed up to 40% identity with other Streptomyces lipase. ► It well catalyzed the transesterification of soybean oil in methanol.
