Decolorization and biodegradation of triphenylmethane dye, brilliant green, by Aspergillus sp. isolated from Ladakh, India

► A new Aspergillus sp. from Ladakh, India that decolorizes brilliant green. ► Dye decolorization occurred within 72 h under aerobic conditions. ► Kinetics of dye removal was monitored by UV-visible spectroscopy. ► N-Demethylation pathway for dye degradation was proposed for the first time.
