Preparation of fatty acid methyl esters from hazelnut, high-oleic peanut and walnut oils and evaluation as biodiesel

► Hazelnut, walnut and high-oleic peanut oils were converted into biodiesel. ► They have high lipid production potentials and are suitable for marginal lands. ► Fatty acid composition was a principal factor influencing fuel properties. ► Blends with petroleum diesel fuel were also explored.
