Effect of mineral matter on the isothermal pyrolysis product of Şırnak asphaltite (Turkey)

► Volatile and total hydrocarbon recoveries of SASP-R, SASP-C, SASP-N and SASP-F were increased with increasing temperature. ► Volatile fraction of recovered hydrocarbons of SASP-C is less than that of the SASP-R, SASP-N and SASP-F. ► In the absence of pyrite, recovery of volatile hydrocarbons slightly increased when compared with SASP-C although it decreased with SASP-R. ► Removing silicates increased the recovery of volatile fractions. ► Carbon in solid residue determined and found decreasing with increasing temperature. ► The yield of lighter fraction in n-paraffins and 1-olefins increased especially after 550 °C on demineralized samples. ► The yield of C5-C9, C10-C15 and C16+ groups decreased between 550 °C and 650 °C due to the decomposition to smaller fractions.
