Engine performance, exhaust emissions and combustion characteristics of a CI engine fuelled with croton megalocarpus methyl ester with antioxidant

► Croton Oil Methyl Ester (COME) was evaluated to replace diesel in CI engine. ► Most of its properties fulfilled minimum requirements of ASTM D6751 and EN 14214. ► The use of antioxidants increased the oxidation stability to meet EN 14214 (6 h). ► It had no significant effects on engine performance, emission and combustion. ► COME recommended to be utilized as partial substitute for mineral diesel
