Effect of longwall face advance rate on spontaneous heating process in the gob area - CFD modelling

► A 3D model with a continuously advancing longwall face was developed. ► Favourable zone for onset of the “Spon-Com” process in a gob area was confirmed. ► Location of the favourable zone in a gob is affected by coalface advancing rate. ► “Spon-Com” incidents can occur in a gob that are not detected in the airflow.
