Shear behaviour of reinforced palm kernel shell concrete beams

► PKSC beams showed superior performance compared to NWC. ► Shorter narrower cracks in the PKSC beams showed good aggregate interlock. ► PKSC beams without shear links produced 24% higher shear strength than NWC beams. ► Non-linear analysis predicted the shear within 20% of the experimental results.
