Psychological adjustment and levels of self esteem in children with visual-motor integration difficulties influences the results of a randomized intervention trial

► We looked at two interventions, directive and non directive aimed to improve visual motor integration. ► We recruited low socioeconomic background kindergarten and first-grade children with poor visual motor integration skills. ► We examined the predictive value of baseline psychological adjustment and self-esteem on the interventions' effectiveness. ► Baseline psychological adjustment and self-esteem predicts the interventions' outcome. ► Establishing the psychological adjustment and self-esteem is important for intervention matching.
