Detection of abnormal muscle activations during walking following spinal cord injury (SCI)

► We studied assessment of complex gait following SCI for subsequent rehabilitation. ► EMG and footfall signals were recorded simultaneously and synchronized analyzed. ► The EMG signal was processed by the RMS in frequency domain within phases of gait cycle. ► The distribution of muscle activation was compared between healthy and SCI participants. ► Key differences were observed in the activation of tibialis anterior (TA) and rectus femoris (RF).
