Effortful control in typically developing boys and in boys with ADHD or autism spectrum disorder

▶ EC is useful in differentiating a typically developing group from clinical groups. ▶ EC is less efficient in distinguishing ADHD from autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ▶ Low levels of EC seem to be related to developmental disorders in general. ▶ EC seems to play a role in the manifestation of symptoms of ADHD as well as ASD. ▶ High EC levels seem to enable children to function adequately in daily situations.
