In order to ensure a successful deployment of real-time and critical business applications, absolute end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees, which is not currently supported in today's core networks, are required. We address this issue by presenting the Adaptive Preemptive Drop Policy (APDP), which provides guaranteed end-to-end QoS in asynchronous bufferless Optical Packet/Burst Switched networks (OPS/OBS). Based on measurements of the current packet loss rate, we enable an adaptive adjustment of the preemption probability, and achieve a strict upper bound on the packet loss rate for high priority traffic. Simulation results show that the APDP functions properly even when the system load, the share of high priority traffic and the burstiness of the arrival process changes.
