Addition of silica nanoparticles to tailor the mechanical properties of nanofibrillated cellulose thin films

► Fabrication of functional thin films based on renewable resources (NFC). ► The thin films were characterized by QCM-D, ellipsometry and AFM. ► Young's modulus of NFC/PVAm film was doubled upon incorporation of SiO2. ► These thin films maintain a relatively high transmission of visible light.
