Prevention vaginally of HIV-1 transmission in humanized BLT mice and mode of antiviral action of polyanionic carbosilane dendrimer G2-S16

Sepúlveda-Crespo et al. have shown that topical vaginal administration of 3% G2-S16 prevented HIV-1 transmission in humanized (h)-BLT (bone marrow-liver-thymus) mice in 84% without irritation or vaginal lesions. Vaginal HIV-1 exposure was performed within 2 h following vaginal application of 3% G2-S16. H-BLT mice were generated from NOD/SCID/γc−/− (NSG) mice co-transplanted with human liver and thymus tissues along with autologous CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells.205
