Liposome based nanoparticles decorated with cardiolipin and phosphatidic acid have been tested as a potential treatment to reduce amyloid burden in APP/PS1 mice. Three-month-old transgenic mice were injected for three weeks with the different formulations one through day. After this period we observed a reduction in the level of both Aβ1-40 and Aβ1-42 in plasma of the treated mice. The reduction of the peripheral levels of amyloid was accompanied by a decrease in the amyloid burden in the brain and the reduction of some phospho-epitopes of Tau protein.160
