We examined the ability of liposomes bi-functionalized with phosphatidic acid (PA) and with an ApoE-derived peptide (mApoE) to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and to affect Alzheimer disease β-amyloid peptide (Aβ) aggregation features. Our results show that bi-functionalized liposomes display enhanced BBB crossing features (either in vitro using a BBB model or in vivo in healthy mice), inhibit Aβ aggregation and promote peptide disaggregation in vitro.115
