Pleiotropic functions of magnetic nanoparticles for ex vivo gene transfer

Polyethylenimine-coated magnetic nanoparticles (PEI-MNPs) could introduce episomal vectors more efficiently than conventional transfection reagents. In vitro separation of the cells containing MNPs with magnetic field is a novel strategy for enrichment of gene-transferred cells. Moreover, the separated cells could be detected by magnetic resonance. These results indicate that PEI-MNPs have multifunctional roles in ex vivo gene transfer. (i.e.: Graphical : Figure 1)106
