CD44-tropic polymeric nanocarrier for breast cancer targeted rapamycin chemotherapy

CD44-tropic hyaluronic acid matrix nanoparticles containing the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin were formulated for breast cancer targeted chemotherapy. Sustained and controlled release of the drug from the particle was achieved using a hindered ester prodrug. In an immunocompetent, orthotropic murine model of breast cancer, subcutaneous administration of rapamycin-loaded CD44-targeted particles significantly reduced the prevalence of distant lung metastasis and improved animal survival.187
