Optimism and the Big Five factors of personality: Beyond Neuroticism and Extraversion

► We examined relationships between optimism and the Big Five personality factors. ► Focused on relationships beyond Neuroticism and Extraversion. ► We used multiple samples and different measures of optimism and personality. ► Optimism was strongly correlated with four Big Five factors (all but Openness). ► Agreeableness and Conscientiousness added to the prediction of optimism.
