► Disposition to perceive coincidences was related to high rate of unusual associations. ► Disposition to perceive coincidences was related to poor working memory inhibition. ► Relationships were independent from individual differences in paranormal belief. ► No evidence was found for a biased concept of randomness. ► Perception of coincidences & loose associative processing were related to schizotypy.
