Self-concealers: Do they conceal what we always assumed they do?

► Relations between self-concealment and major secrets were examined. ► Two hundred and twenty one major secrets of a general population sample were analyzed. ► The hypotheses were generally corroborated. ► SC information refers to personal inadequacy, sorrow, and worry in particular. ► Results suggest SC regards personal, intimate, negatively valenced information.
