► Craving was measured using the short form of the Marijuana Craving Questionnaire. ► Total MCQ scores decreased significantly during the trial among the total sample. ► Total MCQ scores not decrease differentially between the NAC and placebo groups. ► NAC's cessation effects may be mediated by effects other than marijuana craving.
