Experiential avoidance as a moderator of the relationship between behavioral inhibition system sensitivity and posttraumatic stress symptoms

► We examined the relationship between BIS and BAS sensitivity and PTSS. ► We investigated EA as an intervening variable in these relationships. ► BIS and two subsystems of the BAS were related to PTSS. ► EA moderated the relationship between BIS sensitivity and PTSS. ► High EA and greater BIS sensitivity predicted an increase in PTSS severity.
