Contributions of S. E. Henschen to aphasiology

S.E. Henschen (1847-1930) was the author of a significant 8 volume textbook on diseases of the brain, Klinische und anatomische Betrage zür Pathologie des Gehirns. This work has not been available to English readers. An outline is presented of the contents of each volume. Details are given of the work on aphasia. An extended pre´cis of the arguments regarding sensory and motor aphasia is the focus of the paper with reference made to contemporaneous authors.
